Compact Size and Dual Format Production Capacities Makes Ross Synergy Ideal Solution for UniSat Mobile

UniSat is a fully integrated supplier of television logistics and transmission of domestic and international live-event programming. As Executive Vice President, I manage the daily operations of the company.

Our search for a new production switcher began when the company grew and we built a new state-of-the-art digital KU production truck. The need to move to DTV and produce a higher quality picture became a requirement of our clients.

At UniSat, we are faced with the challenge of dual aspect ratio production. A key feature that the Ross Synergy met was the ability to produce in 4:3 and 16:9 with the Aspectizers option.

There were other features of Synergy that helped make our purchasing decision. For instance, Squeeze and Tease gives us flying, scalable keys and over-the-shoulder boxes, Ultimatte Insider gives us advanced chroma keying, and Custom Control allows us to recall combinations in our memory.

Synergy's features were a large part of the purchasing decision. One of the more important aspects was the compact size of the switcher, which allows it to fit into our mobile production truck.

Since UniSat had never owned or operated a Ross switcher, ease of operation was a consideration. The Ross Synergy met that need and was very easy to use.

In order to complete our installation, encoders and decoders were necessary. We chose RossGear conversion equipment and installed them into the new Ross frames. Other RossGear products purchased were TruckAMPs and audio and video DAs.

Installation was easy, but there were some issues with our upgrades. Ross was very responsive to our problems and demonstrated great service support.

Currently, we are using Synergy for remote live television production. We are impressed with the switcher's performance and reliability.

Synergy will definitely help us with future production.
